VoidPixel Creations (ABN: 50960473836) ("we", "us", "our") operates the BudgetPlate mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our app. By using BudgetPlate, you agree to this policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following information when you use BudgetPlate:

Email address (when you create an account)
First name (optional, if you provide it)
App preferences: family size, weekly budget, dietary needs, preferred stores
Device push notification token (if you grant permission)
Shopping lists you generate within the app
Subscription status (free or Pro)
Basic usage data: which recipes you view, when you last used the app

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

Create and manage your account
Personalise your weekly meal plan and shopping list to your family size, budget, stores and dietary needs
Send you push notifications about new weekly recipes (only if you grant permission)
Process subscription payments through RevenueCat and Google Play
Improve the app based on how it is used
Respond to your support requests

3. Supermarket Price Data

Prices in BudgetPlate come from the printed weekly catalogues that Woolworths, Coles and Aldi publish publicly. We read those catalogues (using AI to convert the pages into structured data) and a person reviews each week's import before it goes live. We do not scrape or access private retailer systems. Prices may still differ from your local store, and catalogue offers can change or sell out — always check the price at the store.

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the following service providers:

RevenueCat — to manage your subscription. See revenuecat.com/privacy
Google — to process subscription payments through Google Play Billing
Anthropic — to generate recipe content using AI. Your personal details are not sent to Anthropic. See anthropic.com/privacy
Expo — to deliver push notifications to your device

We may also share aggregated, anonymised data (such as total number of users) for business reporting. This data cannot identify you.

Overseas disclosure

Some of the service providers listed above are based overseas, including in the United States (RevenueCat, Anthropic, and Expo). This means your personal information may be transferred to, and stored or processed in, countries outside Australia — primarily the United States. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure these providers handle your information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles, but overseas recipients may not always be subject to the same privacy laws as Australia.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure servers hosted on a Virtual Private Server (VPS) in Australia. We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted passwords, HTTPS connections, and JWT-based authentication. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Push Notifications

If you grant permission, we may send you push notifications about new weekly recipes (typically once per week on Monday morning). You can withdraw permission at any time in your device's Settings app under Notifications → BudgetPlate.

7. Your Rights

Under Australian privacy law, you have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you
Correct inaccurate information
Request deletion of your account and personal data
Withdraw consent for push notifications at any time
Make a complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au

8. Children's Privacy

BudgetPlate is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe we have inadvertently collected personal information from your child, please contact us at support@budgetplate.com.au and we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "last updated" date at the top and, for significant changes, notify you via push notification or email. Continued use of BudgetPlate after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
